Who would benefit from specific research?
Ideal for those who have specific research that they would like to have carried out.
Specific Research is useful for those who have already utilised a wide range of online and archival sources, and are at a stage of their research where they require a quite specific but limited piece of research to be completed.
Please note that we carry out archival research for the nine counties which make up the historic province of Ulster (Antrim, Armagh, Cavan, Derry/Londonderry, Donegal, Down, Fermanagh, Monaghan, Tyrone).
If you are interested in archival research for another county, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for advice before commissioning research online.
How long will it take?
Specific Research takes 8–10 weeks to complete and costs £120 (+ VAT if EU resident) for a 4-hour search.
PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE CURRENT SITUATION WITH COVID-19, THE PUBLIC RECORD OFFICE OF NORTHERN IRELAND (PRONI) IS CLOSED FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE – THIS HOLDS THE MAJORITY OF RECORDS NEEDED FOR FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH WHICH ARE NOT YET ONLINE.
WHILE RESEARCHERS WILL STILL BE ABLE TO BE ABLE TO START YOUR RESEARCH, DEPENDING ON THE AREA AND TIME PERIOD IN QUESTION, THERE MAY BE A DELAY IN COMPLETING YOUR RESEARCH WHILE WE WAIT FOR PRONI TO RE-OPEN.
