Stone Mountain Highland Games – 20-22 October 2017

Scots-Irish Discovery Tour

Ulster Historical Foundation and partners Cara Group Travel of Boston have devised a new Scots-Irish tour for June 2018 and you can learn more about it at the Stone Mountain Highland Games, near Atlanta GA, this weekend from 20-22 October 2017.

The Foundation’s Gillian Hunt is not able to attend the games this year but Sara Stanton from our tour partners, Cara Travel, will be present at the Tourism Ireland booth (just beside booth 12 – the House of Tartan) which is located just as you enter through the main gate.

Sara will be on hand to showcase the highlights of this tour as well as being able to answer any questions you might have about practical arrangements including flights, additional accommodation and extension packages to the tour.

The Scots-Irish Discovery Tour is offered by Cara Group Travel in partnership with the Foundation and will help visitors to discover the history of the province of Ulster and explore their Irish and Scots-Irish heritage as well as visiting many must-see sights in Ulster.

The Scots-Irish Discovery Tour is the first offering in a series of activities planned for 2018 by the Foundation and partners to mark the tercentenary of the 1718 migration from Ulster to America.

The Foundation will also host a family history conference in September 2018 (05-12 September) with the theme of "300 years and more of Irish migration" to coincide with this important anniversary.
