“Going North”: Landed Estates in the counties of Cavan, Donegal & Monaghan, 1700-1914 is a seminar that will be held on Monday 6 November 2023.

Dr William Roulston will be one of the speakers.

Marie Boran & Brigid Clesham (Researchers, Irish Landed Estates Project) will present the updated Irish Landed database.

The Irish Landed Estates database project has been based at the University of Galway since 2005. In that time our database (https://landedestates.ie/) has had over 1.5million views and is linked to by many major research resources such as the National Archives and the National Library of Ireland.  As well as data relating to estates in all counties in Connacht and Munster, data pertaining to the three Ulster counties of Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan has recently been added.

3:50pm - Prof. Terence Dooley (Maynooth University). The Marquis of Bath’s estates in County Monaghan

4:10 pm - Dr. William Roulston. ‘Landed estates in County Donegal and their records’

4:30 - Q&A with speakers

4:40pm - The Irish Landed Estates database: a demonstration with Marie Boran & Brigid Clesham.

4:50pm - Thanks, close of Seminar and refreshments.
