This database is based on the parliamentary paper, A return of the names of those towns in Ireland in which the act of 9 Geo. 4, c.82 has been brought into operation (H.C. 1843, vol. 50), which lists the names of town commissioners from 42 towns in Ireland.
There are 909 entries in all and the information provided includes, in addition to the name of the town commissioner, his occupation and occasionally the date he was elected. For Portadown there are five sets of names, each set covering a three year period between 1828 and 1843, though many of the names appear more than once.
