Belfast City Hall

Belfast City Hall is Belfast City Council's civic building. It is located in Donegall Square, in the heart of Belfast city centre. It faces north and effectively divides the commercial and business areas of the city centre. It first opened its doors on 1 August 1906, and was built on the site of the White Linen Hall, an important international Linen Exchange.

Inside City Hall, you can register births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships, take a tour, admire the public art and enjoy refreshments at the Bobbin Coffee Shop. The interior also has a number of notable features including The Porte-Cochère and Grand Entrance, The Grand Staircase, The Reception Room and The Great Hall, and various memorials are located throughout the building.

In the grounds of City Hall you can visit the Titanic Memorial Gardens, picnic on the lawns while watching The Big Screen or see the building lit up at night. It is normally lit up in white light, but special coloured lights are applied to the building to commemorate various dates. For example, it is lit up in green to mark St. Patrick's Day.
