The Northern Ireland Place-Name Project's online database on the history of the 9,600 townland names of Northern Ireland has now been made available by Land and Property Services OSNI at www.placenamesNI.org.
Although it still needs a lot of work, it currently has a written explanation for every townland in Co. Down. All other counties are incomplete.
